We had it, yes, but we lost it - I believe that many of the technical plans from Apollo have been lost over the years, so some of this is pretty much reinventing the wheel to get us back to where we were before.

Yeah, but the point is to test the technology which will eventually get people back onto the moon, set up permanent off-Earth habitation, etc. Which in turn will/could be part of future steps for further-reaching exploration. I still think it has value as a building block.

Definitely 😁👍

Ah, ok - thanks for sharing! Not heard of that before, will check it out 👍

Doesn’t sound exactly the same, but you may be thinking of Phase IV.

Fun mode: The Asterixiverse. If only for those amazingly delicious-looking wild boars.
Hard mode: The DavidLynchiverse.

Ford Prefect: Your God person puts an apple tree in the middle of a garden and says, do what you like guys, oh, but don’t eat the apple. Surprise surprise, they eat it and he leaps out from behind a bush shouting ‘Gotcha.’ It wouldn’t have made any difference if they hadn’t eaten it.
Arthur Dent: Why not?
Ford Prefect: Because if you’re dealing with somebody who has the sort of mentality which likes leaving hats on the pavement with bricks under them you know perfectly well they won’t give up. They’ll get you in the end.

Interesting, thanks.
Addressed the first one on that other comment.
The second one just seems contradictory tbh, how can it be both?
The third one is interesting - but subjectively feeling like we have free will isn’t the same as objectively having it.
And if there was a god and he was allowing (in fact, causing) us to believe we had free will, when we actually didn’t, would just create the situation where god had misled us.
I think the best way out is that we do have free will, but god isn’t omniscient (if he exists at all).

It’s not a question of interfering or not though, it’s about foreknowledge.
Either god had foreknowledge of their choice, and therefore A&E couldn’t have made any other decision than they did, or they had genuine free will meaning he wasn’t omniscient.

But if god is omniscient, then he knows what they’re going to do. And if he already knows that, then do they really have free will? Or do they just think they do?

You could afford a bigger mug though.
If your SO thinks it’s a joke, then I think the very first thing you need to do is consider whether you’re 100% serious about it or not. And then you need to discuss it with them as a serious topic, so they know you’re not kidding. And then take it from there based on whatever they say, bearing in mind that they may be 100% against it.
Also agree with the comment about potentially having to move back closer to family in future, if health situations deteriorate.
None of which is to say don’t do it. But it’s a major life change, so lots to consider.

That’s a great call, very similar:

If you had tolde “Lover you should’ve come over” was also a Prince song, I’d 100% have believed it.

If you like long, human-made, interesting but also a bit leftfield documentaries, you could do a lot worse than Jon Bois.
Example - a four part series about the history of the telegraph, told through an extended metaphor involving the two main characters in 90s sitcom, Home Improvement.
Highly recommended, as is his other stuff. He has a couple of deep dives into the weird histories of the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings that are also well worth watching

if zombies don’t need to breathe, can they just walk under the sea to an island?
I wonder what happens if a shark takes a bite out of a zombie? Does the shark become a zombie? Or does the zombie become a shark?

That’s fair enough. Everyone likes different things I guess. All I can say is that when I came out of the cinema having seen TLJ, I was utterly disappointed. When I came out of seeing TRoS, I was bouncing like a kid on Christmas, it made me happy.
For some reason I just really enjoy it, whereas I hated TLJ and all the prequels. Others disagree, that’s cool too :-)
He says he posted it, but that it was meant to be him as a red cross doctor. And he can’t see how anyone could think it was meant to be Jesus. Seriously.
