Had one in the room growing up. Had one when I moved out. Took it out when I got married, and haven’t had one for well over a decade.
One in the living room though. Bought it when we got married. Stupid thing won’t die so I can justify replacing it.

Front left: wireless headphones, flashlight, wallet, 6ft of Paracord.
Front right: cell phone, knife.
Back left: any small trash I’ve collected throughout the day.
Back right: usually empty 🤷♂️
I don’t like sitting on things. Kept my wallet in my back right until I was 25 or 30, started hurting my back. Since switching it forward, no issues.

Don’t see “Half As Interesting” listed here. His stuff doesn’t usually go super deep, but I’ve learned a lot from him.
And just recently he was accused of using AI for a thumbnail and this was his response:

Kden is better than it has any right to be. I’m not professional by any means, but it’s quite useful

Haven’t seen that in a long time
I’m mixed on this. If it’s a serious movie, then I agree wholeheartedly. It’s not funny and it breaks my immersion.
But if it’s a more relaxed or even funny movie? Bring it on, the more subtle the better, I love hearing it, always gives me a chuckle when I’m in a chuckling mood.
If it’s people I don’t know or care about… And it’s not directly in front of my line of sight… Then I guess.
But I’m really sensitive to light in my periphery. I drive with the dash lights as low as they will go without being off, and can’t stand new cars with the LCD equivalent of the sun in place of the radio.
But in my own home? My own family? Especially if it’s a movie I really care about and they haven’t seen? Drives me bonkers, because they are missing the best parts, or will be confused later because they are missing details. Frustrating.
That doesn’t clock as the traditional Wilhelm scream to me.
I’m not trying to say you’re wrong, I don’t know much about this. I’m just saying if I were watching this with zero context, I wouldn’t recognize it as being the Wilhelm scream. Whereas normally I hear it in every movie it’s in, pretty clearly.

Nice! That’s the thing, right? That’s the key I don’t think people understand.
My normal energy level, once I’ve woken up for a few minutes, is how I used to feel when caffeinated, after having been on the stuff for awhile.
The low energy they feel, is literally the caffeine addiction talking. Your body gets so used to it, you’re not feeling the buzz you felt when you first tried it, you’re just maintaining a normal human level of energy, but it feels like a buzz because without it your brain is so addicted that it’s suffering for it.
Crazy.
Now I still have a little caffeine for a really bad headache I can’t shake. But it only takes a few sips of coffee or pop, and I’m good. It’s not enough to make me feel wired, but I still might struggle to fall asleep that night, when normally I don’t struggle at all.
Caffeine IS powerful, people just get used to it, but their body is still affected every day.

Not throwing shade, but caffeine is a crutch.
If you ditched it, it would suck for a few months sure, but then your brain will adjust.
I’ve been caffeine free for over 20 years. If I stay up super late, or wake up super early, I struggle for a moment, but then I’m fine.
Water is my go to in the morning.
Your body is so used to caffeine, that you’re literally medicating yourself for a condition you created for yourself. You need it in the morning on a weird shift, because you always use it in the morning on a weird shift.
Again, sorry for the rant, I just feel very strongly about this scientific fact.
Best wishes to you

Also zero, for like 20 years now.
Maybe the occasional sip of coffee if I have a headache

I got my framework about a year ago, before the tariffs got crazy, and well before ram got crazy (I put 96 gigs in it to play with AI workloads, and for the lulz).
My plan is to ride this thing until it starts showing its age. Which I imagine will be another 3 or 4 years? Only then can I comment on my actual desire and commitment to upgrading it.
Until then, I’m just banking on the fact that the company will a) live. And b) still have parts for my machine.
I do appreciate what they’re doing, and I like my machine now.
There are definitely people out there who upgrade super frequently, who knows, maybe I’ll be one of them in 1 or 2 years instead of 3 or 4. Hard to say what life will look like then, the way things go these days.

That’s his point. It’s similar to framework, but not the same.
Easy repairability is great, truly.
But framework offers more than that, easy repairability AND upgradability, because they offer new upgraded parts with the same compatibility as the old ones, so you can just drop them in.
Lenovo is not yet doing that. Which is fine. Just a noteworthy difference.

Yesterday, driving on a 55mph road in America, I’m the last car in line of cars, nobody behind me.
A truck with two young guys in it pulls out in front of me, going the same direction as me. They get on the gas but not quickly enough, and only up to like 50mph.
They easily could’ve waited an extra 10 seconds and let me pass, and been in nobody’s way. But no.
I let off the gas and cover the brake, and I passive aggressively coasted up behind them, maybe one or two car lengths away. Too close to be safe, I won’t stay there for more than a few moments. But to me, it lets them know they did something dumb and inconvenienced me. Not the best move but whatever.
Their response? The passenger looks over his shoulder, flips me the bird, while the driver simultaneously slams on his brakes, annoyed that I’m tailgating them, trying to get me to rear-end them.
I slam on my brakes, and they speed up and drive off.
I didn’t pursue it any further, it’s not worth it. Honestly, me riding up on them probably wasn’t worth it. But it boggles my mind how crazy people are these days.
Years ago, I had a big toddler-killer sized truck tailgating me on icy roads because I wouldn’t go over the speed limit. He had his brights on, absolutely searing my retinas because his truck was so tall.
I didn’t brake check him. When I found a safe spot to do so, I just pulled over and let him pass.
But I couldn’t help myself, when I pulled back onto the road, I flashed my brights at him from behind. A small screw you for tailgating and blinding me.
The dude locked up all four tires, skidded to a halt, got out of his truck and started walking back towards me with his arms in the air screaming “you want to ducking go?!?”
He was wearing military camo, might’ve been on reserve, there was a base in the area.
I just put my hands up in the air and shook my head no. After a moment, he yelled “that’s what I ducking thought!” And gets back in his truck and tears off.
So yes, from a guy living in America… If you road rage here, you’re chances of getting shot, or at least beaten up, are high. Better to let the idiots do what they want, and pretend it doesn’t bother you.

That’s a fair assessment.

IDK man, I bought a 10 pack of cheap thumb drives on Amazon a year ago, just big enough for giving to friends full of files or installing Linux or whatever. They were microcenter brand… Not high quality.
The other day I used the last two, took them to work. Went to buy another pack? More than double the price I paid last week.
Yeah yeah it’s flash, not HDDs. I don’t think it matters. Everyone is riding the “computer get more expensive” train. And once the price goes up, it doesn’t come back down.
We’re boned.

My TV is a 50" I think? 1080p from 2013. It was cheap then, and it’s worth nothing now, on the market. But it works fine.
The backlight is evenly distributed, which is good, that’s a pet peeve of mine. But otherwise it’s unremarkable.
Honestly, I’d really like to try those new HDR TVs, a mini LED or OLED or something. But I just can’t justify it. Why? Because the TV I have, works fine 🤷♂️
If it magically died tomorrow, I’d upgrade. But I definitely don’t need 8k. Heck I don’t need 4k. I barely watch any content at 1080, it’s mostly 720 🤷♂️

Got caught at the airport in a foreign country during the crowdstrike debacle.
Mercifully, our flight was only delayed by about 9 hours, and not cancelled. We were able to get home without too much fuss.
Many people had it much much worse.
Still, that was the longest I’d ever been delayed.
Red Rising by Pierce Brown is really popular. I’m only just started the 4th book so nobody spoil it for me. So far so good.
