Buying a used bike would probably be the most economical: You can get a quality bike for $100-200 probably.
Alternately: Folders are a lot more transportable. I love my Priority Folder and a trifold like Brompton or Takachia would be even more transportable!

Yeah, that chain is looking kinda beat up. It’s good to check it in a few locations but it’s probably time for a new one (plus, riding too long on a worn chain can prematurely wear out your cassettes too).

Thanks for the write-up! We’ve featured it in the community to get more eyes on it.

You just gotta hit that dropper and send it! Wait…

Well, it’s one reason it’s rubbish anyhow.

Just as a general piece of advice: The ParkTools YouTube channel has tons of great maintenance and adjustment videos.
The chain cleaner is good for cleaning it up between oilings, but you want to be super thorough in degreasing before waxing. I’d recommend checking out some tutorials before you wax.

Reflash their firmware and make them do all my chores.

Hah, dumbass has to help Mrs. Pearson take out her trash and do your taxes! What a rube…

If you use the same chain, be sure to thoroughly degrease it before waxing. They sell pre-waxed chains too, but I’m not sure of brands off hand. You’ll also want to completely clean off your drive train.
What’s wrong with your rear brakes? Good thing you found that bike clinic!

Eh, you can eyeball it towards the end: Nothing wrong with improvising if you ask me.

I’d rather have cheese if I’m on a train and don’t need carbs for fuel. If I was riding a bike, I might feel differently.
If there’s a disparity in your bread/cheese supply, you could stretch it out by only eating one slice of bread at a time, folding it over a whole piece of cheese (also folded).

Don’t buy cheap junk and take care of your batteries!

There’s at least a few models that are self powered/self recharging.

Yeah, I feel the same way about my bike lol.
Yep, those links should work no problem. I also have a 3x7 on my bike and this is what I use.

Do you have these? I’ve seen a few pedals like these but wasn’t sure on how good they actually are as pedals. Right now I usually use cheap Blackops Sasquatch pedals but I have no complaints really. I wouldn’t mind picking up some light up flats as long as they’re good otherwise too.

Yeah, I think I’ll be sticking with my Portola lol

I highly recommend them! Just make sure you get a decent one that fits you well and meets your needs. My go-to is a Ride1up Portola because it’s good bang for your buck, and serves as a surprisingly decent cargo bike with the front rack and big pannier bags on the back.

Cool bike! https://kmcchain.us/collections/7-speed-and-under-chains/products/z7 should work but I’d also recommend some quick links and quick link pliers. Also, possibly a chain breaker (those are fairly cheap).
When you need to replace the chain, use the chain breaker to pop the link out of the old one, remove it, and compare the lengths of the chains to make sure they match. After you’ve gone through a few chains, it’ll probably be time to get replacement cassettes too because they wear down as well (but that could be years from now depending on how much you ride).
This video will help if you’ve never changed a chain before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdUQKVMPF5I
