I’d rather ride a hog than fly commercial
Protestant work ethic is deeply ingrained in most western cultures

I always thought he was an electrical worker and it was a love song to a power plant.

Linemen also have a cool song about them

We got married in a park so we had the officiant take some pictures.

There isn’t an EV for sale in America I want. Almost all are SUVs and the ones that aren’t still have iPads instead of dashboards and data tracking.
There is one that I want in Europe but I can’t have it because I’m a free American.

Any system whereby a thousand middlemen don’t get to get a cut of the money is illegal and immoral. /s

A lot of my neighbors have giant trucks that don’t even fit in the garages

During COVID a lot of folks in my suburb converted their garages to living space and now park on the street.

It’s also produced (slowly) through radioactive decay underground where it becomes trapped with other gasses. That’s the reserve we’ve been working with.

I went through a bad depression and one thing that helped snap me out of it was my kids being afraid of me. I felt like a monster.
I put in a lot of work and one day my kid said “I’m not scared of you anymore” and that felt really great.
It sucks that your mom is dismissive of this rather than introspective but parents are flawed, broken people. I don’t know what else to say except that if she doesn’t get it you’ll be able to leave eventually.
I hope for your sake she takes your words to heart.

We’re gonna make AGI and realize that being stupid sometimes and making mistakes is integral to general intelligence.

The worst part is that it was all down to our existing system being owned by Salesforce, and Larry Ellison hating the CEO of Salesforce.
We could still use Amazon and Microsoft products but nothing from Saleforce because Uncle Larry was butthurt.

These guys were blown away when I showed them the same feature in a competitor’s product.
The company I worked for had just been bought by Oracle and we were under a directive to switch to all Oracle software, so I guess they weren’t motivated because there wasn’t extra money in it.

I was once told by Oracle engineers that it would take 18-24 months to add a drop down with auto complete to their ticketing system.
They don’t have good engineers because Oracle is a law firm pretending to be a tech company.
Thanks! I’m feeling much better today. I think it’s because I spent all day yesterday watching SG1.

You were attempting to shame me. It didn’t work.
Like I said, I’ve tried to talk myself out of cynicism and nihilism and misanthropy using every tactic that I can and it’s not happening.
We can’t launch anything very big, and things that are constantly spinning are hard to engineer for 100% reliability especially if you have to assemble them in orbit.
And since we can’t launch anything very big anyway, it would make sense to maximize interior space. Leaving two sides of the craft basically unusable as a floor and ceiling reduces available surfaces in a space by 1/3.
