I think your question just broke my brain.

Not USA centric.
It is also solid advice here in Germany and probably many other countries.
Your comment might be UK centric…

“Just because the source is now ‘available’ *DOES NOT MEAN IT IS OPEN SOURCE*. You are violating a license if you copy or redistribute the source code, or use their prompts in your next project! Don’t do that"
Don’t worry, we will just use an LLM to slightly rephrase the code before using and redistributing it, so that copyright doesn’t apply any more.
That’s what LLMs are there for, after all.

By now I am curious enough that I consider just writing them a mail and ask…
Edit:
Just did. Will post if they give me an answer…

l would say there is more advanced information tech in 70s era Voyager than in a typical current German public administration office. ;-)

Impressum would only be a necessity if they were targeting the German market, which they (as an English language only site) are clearly not.

Yes, definitely indentional geoblocking on server side.
Direct access from Germany is blocked.
Access via VPN from any other country works just fine (so no VPN blocking).

Had been thinking the same at first.
But France and Austria did work. Only Germany was blocked.
Only thing that is unique to Germany I can think of is the hate speech laws that are very specific towards Nazi symbolism and Holocaust treatment.
Maybe they had some article (or comments from users…) once that collided with that and decided to just block Germany to make their life less stressful.

I have not seen this episode yet (it’s in season 5, just checked).
Definitely looking forward to it!
We just watched the “Nick of time” episode not to long. Came as a surprise that Shatner was in there - it was kind of a culture shock for my son, suddenly seeing “Captain Kirk” as a superstitious groom in a 50s era dinner… :-)

😆
It’s blocked on the server side, though… (nginx message).
Maybe some German “Neuland” shenanigans the page owner doesn’t want to be exposed to …

Funny observation on the side:
This content is geoblocked in Germany.
And, as far as I can tell, trying a few destinations with my VPN: only in Germany…
So what the hell is in there, that we Germans must not see??? 😆

Just tried it - still 403 for me.

50s sci fi movie, actually.
Part of that groundbreaking film stuff starting in that decade, kicking off our modern understanding of the genre.
Twilight Zone also comes to mind.
Currently watching season 2 of it. Totally great stuff, so many “firsts” in there!

But 403 is “Forbidden”.
So…

Yep, same for me…
No joke:
Guide my wife followed on how to develop a walking habit had as one of its first directives: Park far from the entrance of the store.
Guide has been effective, though. She by now just walks directly from home most of the time if she needs something, carrying a backpack.
(I did that before already. Got accustomed to it during the 00s, not owning a car back then)

I blame the handwriting recognition here, my "I"s are also often "l"s, and my "O"s "0"s…

Yes, I meant the word “prototype” quite literal - there probably are 100s of Hofbräuhäuser all over the world.
(Saw a report about one in China some time ago.)
Each trying to emulate a slightly different hilariously wrong image of German culture.
But honestly, who cares.
Go and have some fun, the slight cringeness is part of it! :-)

After living for years in Munich we finally visited the Hofbräuhaus, that up to then I had been omitting like the plaque, it being the very prototype of the touristic German stereotype, Lederhosen and all.
And what should I say, we had a suprising amount of fun, not the least because we met some US tourists who were there to just meet some of us natives and have fun :-)
Well, after 3/4 or so of a rotation l usually run out of hose to coil around me, so… no.
I am also in the shower while not doing it, so the question wether l am facing the shower somehow doesn’t make any sense…
