Does it have to be something I’m good at?

I often think about teaching middle school or high school instead (obviously college is safer, pays more and is maybe more fun) and when I do that I like the idea of language teaching, or science or maths.

But hence I would be perfectly happy to give language classes or lectures in a university setting.

Is this common? I thought we were supposed to use FullNameNumber@Email.com for personal, and just avoid using it for any spammy stuff. Instead use it for Work and contacting real people

I have none because my parents were lazy, bad at organising, constsnty fatigued and didn’t have dedicated shelf space to put it in. Wish I had more. We do have photobooks, they basically stopped taking photos from when I was 6/7 onwards though.

The first thing everyone that I’ve recommended Lemmy to sees is massive amounts of porn when they make their accounts. Telling them they need to block instances is a major hurdle as they don’t even know what an instance is when they migrate over.

Most end up not bothering and going right back to Reddit.

That really sucks! Next time maybe point them towards piefed, where it actually prompts you to filter out NSFW stuff in account creation. I haven’t seen any porn on my piefed account.

Find the instance it all comes from and block that entire instance? Or does lemmy.ca not allow blocking instances

I think that people can migrate their accounts to a new instance which effectively unblocks them to you, because you only blocked them in their original instance.

I have definitely seen what you describe, but only with users rather than instances or communities, which gives my theory some rope.
