My dominant hand might be in use, so left pocket is more often available while I’m doing something. Same reason why wrist watch is traditionally on left hand.

No, because I hold the phone with my nondominant hand (my left) and interact with it using my dominant hand (my right). Why would I put it in the pocket on my dominant handed side? I’d just have to switch it to the other hand once it was out of my pocket.

This is what prompted the question. I didn’t have a phone until I was older, so my wallet always went in the right. Only place left for the phone is the left.

There was speculation this could be an age thing.

Funny, I grew up without a phone but my wallet was always back right pocket, keys in front left.
