No TV at all, and no social media other than federated platforms and YouTube these days, and I only use alternative no algo clients for YouTube. If I hear about something to watch, I sail the high seas, find it, watch it. If I like it, it goes into my backups.

One of these days I might buy an old ass TV and set up a JellyFin server, but I’m fine with my 1080p monitor. I only watch like 2 shows at a time max, and keep up with like 5 or 6 YT channels. No time and no need for others.

Admittedly, my computer is in my bedroom though. I always have had my computer in my bedroom though, so that’s just a personal taste thing.

Turn off JavaScript by default, and then allow JS through piecemeal using an extension like NoScript. You’d be surprised how much of the internet is still accessible and cleaned up without it, and when you do let JS through, you have a good idea of who’s collecting your data and even a good guess as to specifically why.

Molly White does a better job at explaining what Ghost is than I could. She did so on Ed Zitron’s podcast, Better Offline a little while back. Sorry, but other than that I’d just do some more research.

Your criticism of the US doesn’t preclude you to defend or criticize other nation-states, those are separate criticisms unless the topic is international relations, which it’s not in this case.
