Can you link to the evidence from the Guthrie case?
I’ve always figured it was theoretically possible. Interested in any cases of it in the wild.

I’m trying to be more Bayesian in life, but it’s a difficult lifestyle change!

I think it’s higher than a 50% chance of heads, because you have evidence for it being an unfair coin.

I dunno I suspect left leaning Nice Guys have rapists amongst them as well.

Breakfast is most consistent both in terms of not being skipped and being approximately the same nutrients.
Dinner sometimes breaks up into two small snacks spaced apart, but is never really skipped.
Lunch is often minimal, varies in when it happens, kinda wish I didn’t even need it!

What about Montréal?

I love the French Canadian accent!

Wait I’m confused. Sam Altman is OpenAI right? And he says the DoW agreed to work with them but with the same prohibitions that Anthropic wanted?

If it’s the sending and receiving part of email, I’ve switched to purelymail (you could pick another) and put it behind my custom domain name. Because behind a custom domain, that’s the last time you’ll have to update your contacts as it won’t be dependent on which email provider you choose.
Searching through decades of old emails I do still use the Gmail account, but I just have to get off my butt to self host a local IMAP server for that.

That makes a lot of sense
I realize now that there’s two interpretations here; faith in humanity’s goodness, and faith in humanity’s survival.
I like your take—that it’s probably the same set of people but we’re aware of more of people globally. I’d say since systems heavily shape people, it depends how those evolve over time. Hard to say whether we’re better or worse off than before in terms of systems mostly shaping good or bad traits in people. Total shot on the dark but I think on the whole we have better systems. The historical trend line looks positive in the equitable and empowering direction.
For survival I unfortunately think the probability decreases over time as we command more energy and climate altering technology. Fewer people than ever can do more damage than ever. I think there will always be humans on earth, but they may have to restart civilization. Ugh.
We could also be wrong that war will break out and that climate change won’t be surmountable. I think we’re all hoping that’s the case!

lol what’s the Melania one? I want to read his tweet on that.
Technically you could have not had kids. But I get it, I’m in the same boat!
Do you think those proportions got worse? Or that the severity of evilness or idiocy increased since the past?
I have my doubts. I think the 40% (it’s probably even lower) has taken us this far, and has a chance to continue.

I hate when someone’s house has an Alexa or whatever and I either have to accept it’s listening to me, or spend social credit asking if they can turn it off when I’m there (I’ve never actually made that request).

Yeah that’s a good point.

Also where are the “think of the children” folks that are putting in the age verification laws. Shouldn’t they be concerned that a marketing agency built to profile individuals is privy to everything your kids do at school?
Thank you, that’s fascinating. Not exactly aa egregious as a smart phone constantly sending out mic and cam data. But it’s nonetheless interesting Kash is being so open about it. Comes across to me as marketing the idea to the public that “if you let us and corporate America spy on you, we will keep you safe”.
