Why are these companies wanting to pay to infuriate me? If I want to watch something and I’m suddenly interrupted by a 90 second unskippable intrusion I’m not going to have a positive relationship with your company.

Actually blocking VPNs is pretty tough. Almost all internet traffic is encrypted now and any of that can be a tunnel.

My two main issues are that I don’t want to keep seeing the same post repeated again and again as I scroll, and I want to be able to find a topic and not have to wrestle with all the different communities around the same thing. I just search for a simple topic and often there’s 20 with the same name and I have to find the one that everyone’s using.
I’m not in my 60s or 70s but people that age probably remember practising what to do if a nuke lands. This went on for decades.

Lemmy’s pretty left leaning, extremely left sometimes. There was a conservative community for a while but it turned until a place to ridicule conservatives.
Maybe just start a new community, I think there are people here but a lot on here refuse to even tolerate the right.

Refusing to even talk to people on the opposite end of the political spectrum just makes you another perpetuator of the massive political divide. Do you actually think anyone’s had their vote swayed by someone who refused to even talk to them. You’re not going to bring anyone to the left by demonising the right.

This sounds like ADHD and/or anxiety.
I wouldn’t but I think it depends on the culture. In Morocco people would just start chatting to people in the car next to them while they were waiting at traffic lights. They would just chat to everyone.

I kinda get it though. I think every single time in my life I’ve sent a document in the non-Microsoft format I’ve got a reply saying they couldn’t open it. That’s from LibreOffice and from Mac.

How are Anthropic left wing? I thought they were regarded as being not much better than ChatGPT?
I didn’t have a lot going on at that age, I don’t remember doing anything special.

I checked with ChatGPT and Claude and they both said to walk. Then I said “Think about it” and Claude changed to drive but ChatGPT doubled down. ChatGPT was on 5.2 and set to Auto. Claude was on Sonnet 4.5.

London has quite a few dedicated routes just for bikes. The UK in general has also got places where the bike lane is segregated from the cars by a kerb and painted bike lanes on roads are such a common sight you don’t even notice them. Near where I live they just closed a major road for 6 months so they could build a bridge over it for bikes.

I think this is fine. If you get hit and killed by a distracted driver it may not be your fault but you’re still dead.

I wish they’d implement that idea where signing up for one “sub” (or whatever we call it) signs you up for equivalent subs across the different instances. I also wish something would be done about the amount of content getting repeated as I scroll.

No small ask. New factories, new supply chains, more staff, etc.
It took a few weeks for me. You may just need to slow your pace. I do it more by distance than by speed.
