Tried playing it once through Game Pass, the text was way too small to be readable on my TV.


Nier: Automata and Outer Wilds both lost me with their absurdly boring opening sequences.


They’re not going in the same direction, but if you want some anime of Kon’s calibre, look into the work of Urasawa. Personally, I found Monster and Pluto to both be 10/10 shows.

It’s not that obscure, but Perfect Blue (1997) has not left my mind since I first watched it.
I try to avoid giving them more relevance, but I do occasionally revisit through means that don’t give them money. I hate Dave Mustaine’s guts, so I have the best three Megadeth albums downloaded (Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?, Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction).
