Just a little grown-up tomboy shitposter. He/him if you please but whatev, I’m chill. (Original profile image by Hello Cdd20 fromPixabay.)

Surprise surprise. If you go through Techdirt’s archives, you can see Mike Masnick has spent thousands of words losing his shit any and every time Facebook has faced ANY criticism. I don’t know if he has a financial interest in them (like he does with Bluesky) but the moment someone suggests reining them in, here comes Masnick to defend one of the richest, most lawyer-ed up companies around.

Leak? Surely they mean “unintended emission.”

Mm, I’ve tried leaving mastodon.social, and quickly found that a lot of the people I follow and my followers form an elaborate web of blocks/de-federations that meant I would inevitably lose contact with many people. They’re all good people, but I don’t think they’d change their own instances just for my sake. I could join like, three different instances just to keep in touch, but if forced to choose at this point, I might just give up on Mastodon altogether.

Ring: Fuck it, we Flock now.

If they had any decency at all they should be arresting the president.
But hell would need to freeze over first. 😡

tends to get down votes
I think you’ve gone the extra mile in actually mentioning what the video is about. On my instance, YouTube links just say “Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube” so half the time I have no idea what is even being posted.

I can 2nd lemmus.org, it’s pretty chill over here. The admin has blocked the creation of new communities for the time being however, so if you want to start a new comm you’re better off looking elsewhere.
There’s been a huge wave of people (bots?) creating new accounts, posting a bunch, and then deleting their accounts after a couple of days. See: https://lemmy.world/post/39948262

And the OEM’s are like:

Define winning—cause if it isn’t generating vast amounts of bullshit hallucinations, then Brad Smith is talking out of his poop hole.

Power Supply OEMs: “Hey! We want in on the price gouging too!”

Or it’ll be like buying a used car, 36 monthly payments and your PC will finally be yours!

As another commenter mentioned in the technology@lemmy.world thread, there’s a useful summary at the end of the essay:
macOS Tahoe’s visual interface:
- Fits largely rectangular contents into windows with excessively rounded corners.
- Enlarges controls without any functional benefit.
- Results in app icons being more uniform, thus less distinguishable and memorable.
- Fails to distinguish tools, controls and other interface elements using differences in tone, so making them harder to use.
- Makes a mess where transparent layers are superimposed, and won’t reduce transparency when that’s needed to render its interface more accessible.
Maybe this is because I’m getting older, but that gives me the benefit of having experienced Apple’s older interfaces, with their exceptional quality and functionality.
That was little more than a decade ago, in 2014. Not that I want to turn the clock back, but it would be really helpful if I could read clearly what’s on my display once again.
