But seriously, that’s probably an intended feature, because people randomly turning into oncoming traffic is one of the main causes for accidents. Also note the double yellow line in the “before” image, so turns were prohibited even then.

I too would be happier if I refused to see problems that exist in the real world. Ignorance is bliss.

It’s a two-way bike lane, which means there’s only this one path on this side of the road for bike traffic in both directions. One lane is blocked completely by parked cars. Let me know if you need any more help analyzing the issue.
