“If man chooses oblivion, he can go right on leaving his fate to his political leaders. If he chooses Utopia, he must initiate an enormous education program - immediately, if not sooner.”

Honestly everything since electricity. The number of people we now support at a level of comfort that was unimaginable to even a king 250 years ago.

Waking up at night in the middle of winter in a warm house instantly lit, getting up to poop on a warm comfortable indoor throne with fresh spring breeze scent in the air. The poop flushes away effortlessly and your hands and bum are quickly fresh & clean with running warm water scented soaps and dry with materials 10x more soft & absorbent than the famed Turkish towels. You decide to eat an orange (despite the fact they don’t grow within 1,000 miles of here) and heat a frozen snack in the microwave before heading back to bed.

And, unlike most households for most of history, neither you nor anyone in your family currently has tapeworms

  • Society would probably actually benefit from a non political purely objective science-based commission to review published data, make recommendations for new studies, and come up with an evidence-based recommendation to governments about whether virtual CSAM (no actual children harmed or in AI training data) and lifelike child sex dolls result in statistically more child predation.

I haven’t deep dived on this so maybe it’s already well known among sociologists/psych pathologists. But the key is a trusted science-based policy. We did it for violent video games and found no correlation. Not at all obvious to me if that also holds for pederasty.

Yeah I know, the trusted scientific commission is not going to happen

  • If you have to install any closed-source software to use the VPN, the answer is oh hell yes, they can install a root cert. If they are clever they can remove it when you disconnect, so it will not be noticed by most people.

Even if they require no proprietary install, by definition the VPN knows every IP address you connect to. Even if you use DoH. Even if you use Quad9 DNS. The VPN knows you visited midwestsluts.com

If you want privacy, either spin up your own selfhost OpenVPN, or use the Tor nodes myself and other volunteers pay for, to make free for you to use.

Tor node operators can’t tell what site you are visiting (if they run an exit node they can see the site – but don’t know your IP; if they run a Guard/proxy node they can see your IP, but can’t tell anything about what sites you visit or what data you get)
