  • These things don’t exist on the east coast AFAIK. And DD is a predatory company that fucks everyone in the equation. You’re also on your own for the depreciation of your car and cost of gas (damn, good luck with that), and have money set aside, up to 30%, just for taxes; not to mention keeping track of all expenses that can count as a loss to avoid paying so much in taxes. You’re likely to make less than minimum wage after all is said and done.

    Idk anything about Safeway, but an annoying job with union benefits sounds a lot better than doing gig economy exclusively in an economy that’s going to absolutely fuck you in the ass pretty soon. Hell, you’re better off picking up extra hours, studying, or working on a real side gig with that spare time than really slaving away with DD.

  • A few off the top of my head:

    • Donnie Darko ; I’m a little more partial to the directors cut

    • Kill Bill Volume 1 & 2 ; watched pretty much all Tarentino stuff several times, but this one the most. Inglorious Bastards comes pretty close.

    • Gone Girl ; I love David Fincher. Only a coincidence that I’ve happened to have watched this one the most.

    • The Big Labowski ;

    • Shrek 1 & 2 ; watched an inconceivable amount of times. Rewatched Shrek 1 in Spanish and was blown away how hilarious it was. Turns out the script was readapted by Mexican comedians instead just a translation, and was the closest of a chance I’ve ever had to watch a movie again for the first time

  • Resist with a resurgence of live music where people witness live talent and skill of their instruments, that write incredible pieces and songs. Get involved with your local music scene. Share music you love with people who appreciate the artistry.

    Besides the massive hegemons of the music industry, the vast, vast, vast majority of incredible music that are available on streaming platforms from artists, bigger and smaller, barely made them an income from streaming to begin with; they used it as a marketing tool for people to access their art, and otherwise monetize their brand by selling LIVE SHOWS! Selling merch! This is how they really made money off their work. And even then, many of them still have day jobs to make ends meet. They do it because it’s their passion man.

    The Taylor Swifts and Bad Bunnys of the world will do fine; their labels will find a way to profiteer off AI with their brand and image. Yes this screws over smaller artists again, but what more is a lost fraction of a fraction of a penny going to do for them if they already struggle to begin with? Resist. Go to a live show.

    Edit: also note, be mindful of how live music venues are in cahoots with stealing profits from artists and smaller venues. Support your local music scene.

  • Real talk, I remember when Amtrak was fraternizing with the Trump admin, and even considering putting ICE at their train stations. Not to mention the embarrassing launch of their new trains that were supposed to be faster, but wound up going about as well as Tesla’s convention loop in Las Vegas. In other words, it did not go faster or revolutionize travel.
