GOS’s argument over the attestation is that it’s essentially the same as Google’s system. It approves the devices themselves regardless of their security. An approved device isn’t more secure in any way just because it’s on the list. It’s just a way of arbitrarily excluding any OS that they don’t like while still allowing devices that are obsolete or behind on security updates.

IMO switching to Linux as a new user is no harder than switching from Windows to Mac, which I think is something more people can identify with and aren’t afraid of, for the most part.
Those sellers post their stuff on every marketplace they can, and just fulfill it through their Amazon store. Ebay, Etsy, Walmart, Best Buy, etc, are all full of Amazon sellers.
Youtube definitely hinders the experience if you have adblockers. I’ve had a page load instantly and the video start to buffer immediately, only to refresh on its own a fraction of a second later, load the page slowly, and then wait about 10 seconds before any buffering would happen. If adblockers are disabled, the page loads instantly and the video buffers immediately.
I also regularly get the little popup in the corner saying “Experiencing interruptions?” but shockingly only if the adblocker is enabled. Weird.
Many bike lanes are plowed in the winter. The weather is almost always “permitting” depending on how brave you are.

The issue is not whether people are willing to do it, but whether they should be allowed to.
I can’t think of any situation where disallowing people from repairing their own property makes any sense. The only ones it makes sense to are the ones who profit from it.
It grew because it was the only platform that did it.
If you want views, you have to go where the viewers are. Current alternatives are sorely lacking.
If you want the smaller platforms to grow, you do need to post there, but ignoring the existing giant won’t get you seen unfortunately. At the very least, you should do both.
This is a privacy community. Suggesting linking 4 email addresses to a single google account and paying for the privilege is the opposite of what most people here want,
