I don’t have those things and I don’t have a TV in my bedroom. I do have my PC in there though and I watch shit on that. It’s off when I’m going to sleep though.

I get that but it’s still weird. If that pile of shit had been my first introduction to reddit I’d have never stuck around.

I truly cannot understand how anyone can use new reddit. It is worse by every metric.

I just gonna go live in the woods and take up bird watching or something.

You get the installer? Or you can copy the game directory elsewhere and just run it? Not trying to argue with you just wondering how it works because I wasn’t aware of that.

It gives you the ability to download an installer you can use as needed. I don’t know if that technically counts as ownership but it’s better in that sense than say, steam is, which requires you to download/install through their client.

It was shit in high school too. College was alright.

That’s what I expect of them. That’s why I said it. Getting bullied was far more damaging to me than anything I ever encountered on the Internet.
My point was you can’t just restrict the kids access to the Internet, you have to also make sure they’re able to hang out with their peers. There has to be a balance between giving them the freedom to do shit and sheltering them.

This is not a healthy environment for you or your kids. My friend’s wife grew up in the same kind of environment and is now doing the same thing to him, she’s currently working on kicking him out of their home while still expecting to control his paychecks. You should strongly reconsider getting yourself and your kids out of that situation or at least into therapy. Her unwillingness to work on the situation should not mean you have to suffer.

All their peers are on discord shit talking them for being the weirdo that can’t do anything. While I agree that it needs to happen, fixing this is going to require more than just individuals restricting their own kids. It’s going to take a collective effort, requiring a decent time investment, from all parents or at least enough of them to ensure their children have a decent social network. I’m not optimistic with how fucked up and exhausting every single aspect of life has become. There are things politicians could focus on to actually improve the situation but they’d rather cater to all the data stealing corporations.

Whoever’s currently responsible for the kid should be responsible for watching them and keeping them out of shit they shouldn’t be getting into. Expecting everyone else to put up with this privacy invading shit is fucking stupid.

There’s only a few communities I’d be interested in seeing come over and they’ve already made it clear they’re not interested in moving because of reddits enshittification. I don’t think lemmy should cater to people who can’t be bothered to get over the small initial hump of choosing an instance. We don’t need more users just for the sake of more users anyway. People like that aren’t bringing anything to the table anyway.

It’s giving an inch. We shouldn’t be doing that. We should be fighting tooth an nail against every single aggression against our privacy. They’ve already taken far too much.

I don’t know, I’m not a housing developer. If I could those things and be able to walk to places that’d be dope, but if I have to choose I’m going with the option that gives me the things I want over walkability.

I don’t necessarily want a big house but I do want space for a workshop where I can build/fix furniture and such and a garden where I can sit outside and chill by myself. I don’t see how I could have those things living in an apartment.
Moot point though. I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford a house. Let alone a nice one.

I always feel kind of good about it if it takes some effort to get an answer to an issue I’m having. If I’ve been searching through docs and troubleshooting for hours and finally give up and ask for help and someone just answers right away I feel like a dumbass.

That’s the thing. People try be kind but these guys jump in there in a panic and when they don’t instantly get an answer they’re all like “AREN’T ANY OF YOU ASSHOLES GOING TO HELP ME!!!?”. We’d be helping if we could dude but you already fucked yourself. Getting all aggressive with us isn’t going to change matters.

I’m in a couple discords that have tech support channels and it’s always annoying when people like that come in. “I already catastrophically fucked my shit up,. Why aren’t you assholes helping?” Okay buddy, let me just hop back to the past real quick and stop you from doing that.

That’s horrifying. That thing is wrong waaaaaaay to often to trust it. Like, easily more than half the time and that’s me googling shit I’m not even that knowledgeable about.
Is there a porn universe where I also get to be a cool space man?
