You guess is in the wrong ballpark. It’s unlikely that “screen time” will be found to cause cancer and kill people in painful ways years after they were exposed to it.

I’ve seen some French movies with English subtitles getting things wrong. As well as whatever other problems happen, sometimes it seems obvious that they’re going by what was written in the script and not what was said in the film.

I would guess that they know either much less, or much more than I do about Machiavelli, or they’re speaking ironically. I’d be curious to engage them in conversation to find out which might be the case.
