if you can find one for cheap nearby, an ipod is decent. the full sized models can take large ssds and run foss rockbox fw. the price is insane in my area though so i can’t have one, but my friend uses it and it’s great.

having more ram and faster machine overall, i’ve lived with a 2008 laptop woth 2gb ram 5400rpm hdd and core2duo capped to 1.2ghz thinking it’s okayish since i run a highly optimized linux setup, it wasn’t. upgrade to a faster machine with ssd and everything literally made my system run twice as faster than before.

there’s no equivalent that has all those people in it. maybe instagram or twitter but it’s not any better obviously :(

i never used either bitchat or briar, but i heard briar needs initial pairing between devices to chat while bitchat just works with any people around you. if this is true bitchat could be more useful for spreading info i guess.
