No, if it’s a good blocker it’s blocking all requests and connections to wherever the ads are being served from. There’s usually ALSO a level of cosmetic filtering for things that get past the blocklist or can’t be properly filtered because they’re coming from the same server as stuff you actually want to see, but with ublock origin set to strict and noscript set to allow only whitelisted sites, my page load times are way faster. Sometimes a shitty webpage will still ‘wait around’ for a second to try and get a connection from an ad site but it’s not loading anything into memory.

I mean the headline in your linked article literally calls it the ‘minimum system requirements’ not ‘reccomended’. Games have had two sets of requirements for decades, I don’t see why they couldn’t do the same. Regardless if you need to run Linux on older/less powerful hardware there’s much better choices than Ubuntu, which is designed to be as beginner-friendly as possible at the cost of performance and customizability as is, so in their case I guess it kinda makes sense to dumb it down.

Wikipedia I would never do this for, but site:reddit.com or even just adding the word Reddit to the end of my search term has been my trick to finding good information for like 15 years now. It’s more useful now than ever, despite how shitty reddit has gotten. Reddit’s search is terrible though and searching the same thing using Reddit’s search rarely gives good results.

I mean idk, mine gets pretty fucking bright. So much so that I keep it on the lowest of like 4 or 5 settings by default. What are you having to illuminate regularly? I guess I might be biased as I like the dark and don’t even really turn on lights if I’m home alone, but seriously why do you need a crazy bright flashlight all the time? I think they’re cool but I actually can’t think of a single use case where my phone wouldn’t be good enough, outside of like actual camping or night hiking or something.

Use an old laptop or minipc with an air remote, that’s what I do and it’s way better than any of the tv box alternatives. I’ve got an easy to control cursor, media buttons, and there’s a full keyboard on the back of the remote. No more messing with stupid on screen keyboards. Would never go back to regular ‘SmartTV’ apps or features.

What exactly was the problem because everyone who I’ve seen use Linux Mint has had no problems, including my grandma who was bugging me every week about some dumb new shit Microsoft was doing before I switched her.

That guy is just the coolest person ever. Every time I hear his name its some new fucking based shit. His music as The Flashbulb is my favorite music of all time. He has unbelievable range and creativity as an artist and was one of the first people to fight against music labels going after torrenters/downloaders. He uploaded all his own torrents to a private tracker. Just an awesome fucking person who obviously just wants the best for everyone.
