1 month agoThe LG 27GM950B is a 5k 27" with 2,304 dimming zones and a 165 Hz refresh rate. I have a strong suspicion that this is the same panel as is in the new XDR. They haven’t announced pricing and full specs yet, but I doubt it’s going to be more than $1,800, meaning the Apple XDR will be $1,500 more for a webcam, an aluminum case, and some speakers.
The LG LG 32U990A-S 6k is a good replacement, minus the local dimming, for the old 6k and has Thunderbolt 5.
Based on the rumors, I was expecting an actual upgrade to the Studio Display with mini-LED with the price remaining the same. Instead they went with this absurd offering.

The graphs in the paper show the temperature 1 km away from the data center being 8°C higher and attribute that to heat emitted by the data center. That should start the alarm bells that something isn’t right with this paper.
