Oh No, point 2 % of his net worth
0.2%
literally less than a traffic ticket in terms of scale

I’ve lived in nyc for the past 20+ years and it STILL blows my mind that no one moves for emergency vehicles, it’s infuriating

as if subpoenaing him would actually accomplish anything… only thing more full of shit than his diaper are his words

Just cause these haven’t been called out by the top comments-
True Lies
The Hunt for Red October

A bus once hit our car while my spouse was driving, tore the front bumper off. NYPD took 2 hours to show up, refused to do any kind of report- said they only do a report when someone damages a bus, not the other way around. Took a year to get the city to pay for less than half of the damage.
NYPD doesn’t even bother to show up for car accidents that don’t involve a serious injury… on one hand it’s super frustrating but on the other they probably have bigger things to worry about

Don’t data-centers require massive cooling?

They should be, of course- but in more than one case they are not

I think a similar thing happened to an investigative journalist in DC

Some white hat hackers took control of a Jeep Grand Cherokee’s brakes and throttle remotely, like 8 years ago. The only reason to have WiFi or cell service on a vehicle is to let the government kill you lol
Edit: it was ELEVEN years ago

TBH i really like that i had to get a bit techie again to make the switch. learning to use the terminal a little bit has ignited something in me, and the fact that linux doesnt track my shit has made me way more privacy conscious

I’m not very techie, so when I took my brand new Lenovo (cheap) laptop from w11 to Linux mint, it really felt like an achievement. I haven’t used a command terminal since college, and I straight up made a bootable usb and wiped w11

i think i was overestimating the capabilities of the technology. what we need is a communication method that can be actually encrypted and totally anonymized for location and user identity

yes to both of your questions

Hey everyone thank you for the really great and informative comments and links. I’m still new to meshnets and such, and have only recently taken a more active interest in privacy protection, so I very much appreciate the input

same- I come cause I reddit banned my 14 year old account cause of a trigger happy mod. Lemmy gives the vibes that brought me to reddit in 2012. I try to stay away from the political threads cause of the surveillance state but oi can’t really help myself

i just erased windows 11 and replaced it with Linux Mint Cinnamon- not easy for me as I haven’t used anything but apple ecosystem since forever, but I’m extremely happy with it, and the upgrade in privacy is worth it to me even if it weren’t an excellent OS, which it definitely is. you just have to be willing to learn new things

Yes, I can make more money than I save by making my own bread with the time used

Beans and rice takes many forms, and is generally cheap, and fairly nutritious
I’m a fan of pork butt (or shoulder) in a slow cooker all day (or oven on low) it manages to be pretty cheap per serving, and you can spice it to match any cuisine
Beef is just for special occasions unfortunately
Some fish, like tilapia, can be cheap proteins… I cook mine with lemon and dill
Canned proteins should not be overlooked
Bread is one of those things that is cheaper to buy than make IMO
If only cheese wasn’t so fucking expensive lol
The noble potato, savior of many a meal
The laws will differ from state to state and even between cities within the same state. The fundamental change has to be concentrating population in a given metro area, which will increase business opportunity in the area where population increases.
