The very worst offender is Nissan. The Japanese car manufacturer admits in their privacy policy to collecting a wide range of information, including sexual activity, health diagnosis data, and genetic data — but doesn’t specify how. They say they can share and sell consumers’ “preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, and aptitudes” to data brokers, law enforcement, and other third parties.
What the actual fuck

I can dream lol

Really? That’s new, I signed up this morning and it just worked. They must be being hammered by people leaving Discord too

Fluxer.app looks promising. It’s still in very early dev, but according to the site:
These features are coming soon:
- …
- Opt-in E2EE messaging
- E2EE calls
- Federation
- …
The public beta looks pretty good but it’s currently very slow. There is a large refactor going on so I’m hoping for the best, but even in its current state it seems to support many of Discord’s biggest features quite well.

This is the way

I mean, if all you want is a video game box, and you don’t care about privacy, security, or customizability, Windows is more compatible, sure. I wouldn’t call it better.
The games I enjoy (e.g. Portal 2, No Man’s Sky, Split Fiction to name a small few) all get noticeably better performance on Mint via Proton than on Windows. But games like Destiny 2, Fortnite, etc. with their invasive anti-cheats will never work on a system that respects the user’s privacy.
So if what you want is compatibility, sure, Windows is king. But you do pay a price.

Yes - gift links eventually expire.
That said, here’s the archived version.

I don’t think blocking out the sun is the answer to global warming lol
Having lived through 3 partial/total solar eclipses, even a small shift in the amount of light really fucks with the rhythm of the entire environment. Birds stopped chirping entirely at noon last time. We’d just be replacing one form of global disaster with another.
Not to mention we’d end up fully saturating the available orbital space around earth, causing constant satellite crashes and the complete inability to launch rockets through the mesh and debris. At a certain point the satellites would cease to function entirely through all the trash orbiting earth and at that point we’d have essentially walled ourselves off from ever safely exploring space. It’s a terrible idea all around

One thing I like making is Pesto Pasta. It’s just:
Just boil/drain the pasta, add everything else, stir it together, and you’re done. It’s easy, cheap, and surprisingly good.
I make it with Classico traditional pesto which can be a bit pricier (I think it’s worth it if you have the extra few dollars) but any kind works. I also tend to add salt to the water before boiling the pasta but it can be added later to taste as well. Usually feeds 6-8 people at like $1-2/person.

I mean you’re not wrong, but assuming everyone is like you is a critical thinking problem, not an American problem. I just think it’s particularly noticeable in Americans because there are a lot of them on the platform and the dumb ones are loud. Doesn’t really seem like a problem worth geofencing an entire nation; just block the idiots.

I get it, the US fucking sucks. But I didn’t choose to be from here and I’m doing my best with what I’ve got. The fediverse has been one of the only somewhat sane spaces I can get away from the nonstop propaganda machine.
Block the American communities all you want, but many of us are here to escape the bullshit, not spread it. Sorry our discussion of our politics in communities dedicated to our politics bothers you I guess? You don’t really seem to me to understand the point of the fediverse

- Music production software, esp. Ableton.
For what it’s worth, REAPER works great on Linux. Ik it doesn’t fill quite the same niche as Ableton but it is very capable, especially paired with yabridge for using VSTs via WINE.
Omg a fellow snek boi :D
