After 30 or so years of witnessing firsthand that the amateur really only has one or two moves, though… at a certain point that adage kind of falls apart. I can’t think of anyone whose playbook is more predictable.

And yet they’re seemingly untouchable while their opposition flails around and impotently shakes their fists. Great, they’re dumb and overconfident- they’re still seemingly doing exactly what they need to do in order to “win” and rub everyone else’s nose in it.

If decent people were half as interested in stopping these shitheads as they are in reassuring themselves of their intellectual superiority, the Altmans and Musks of the world might actually have something to fear.

My point is that they aren’t making mistakes. They’re not attempting A but doing B because they don’t know any better. What they are doing is intentional and very often successful.

I don’t understand how people see this kind of thing and think, “this guy is dumb.”

For a decade the world has been seeing constant evidence that when you lie brazenly and repeatedly enough you become untouchable. All one needs to is completely discard the idea of shame. This guy isn’t an idiot- he just knows (probably rightly) that he has everything to gain and nothing to lose by pretending to be.

You’re right, you guys are doing just fine and your inaction certainly won’t make it everyone else’s problem too.

There’s plenty you can personally do.

But you’re not asking “what can I do”- you’re asking “what can I do that requires no risk or sacrifice on my part?”

You’re fine. The rest of the world expects literally nothing from you and you’re doing an excellent job of doing fuck all.

100%. They continue to enable it every day they put their own relatively comfortable lifestyles over their country’s future. Cowards to the last.

“What do you expect me to DOOOO, keyboard warrior?” they’ll wail, defensive and shitty. “Your opinion doesn’t matter because you’re not American,” they’lll fall back on, because this is the only way they know how to protect their guilty consciences. At least they still have those, I guess, for all the good it’s doing them.

Didn’t say they were evil. A lot of otherwise decent people have simply never had a reason to outgrow their toddler brains.

It’s probably less about what you choose to eat and more about the fact that picky eaters are, in a larger sense (and without exception) some combination of childish, incurious, self-absorbed, inflexible, and boring.

Being grown and refusing to eat something that millions of humans eat every day is, frankly, embarrassing. When I meet any otherwise neurotypical picky eater over the age of 13, all I can think of is, “Christ, grow the fuck up.”
