Same! Anyone have reccos for Linux players that are like Foobar2000? It FEELS like a piece of software that should be on Linux hahaha
Edit: I’m reading it works great with Wine, but I’ve never used that before as I’m new to “as primary OS, non-CLI Linux” so I’ll try that later!

Foobar, my love. No other audio player comes close. It’s so minimal and so powerful and fast.

Foobar2000 for me for audio! Handles hundreds of thousands of songs on a standard USB HDD over the network incredibly fast, plays every audio file, best tag editing features I’ve ever seen, full conversion from lossless to other formats, a hella minimal interface dark before they was a common thing, and a tiny footprint.
Incredible piece of software. I love it so much.

Dang, I got a 2015 car kitted out (tint, roof racks, sub, rims, a million speakers, leather everything, glass roof with limo lighting under retractable electronic cover) that I found for a steal accidentally at like 50k miles and it has ONE camera—backup camera! (Dashcam too, but no WiFi or Bluetooth and i installed that myself) Of course, she’s got a GPS and all that; if I had the knowhow, I’d disconnect it.
I hope I keep her forever. I love her.

That’s… what I said…

Your comment is very confusing.
Nobody said Apple doesn’t have AI/LLM tech, it’s just on-device instead of on-server (which is why it’s not very good…)
It still needs to be trained on massive amounts of data… otherwise it wouldn’t be Large or a Model.

Nah, Pi-Hole has never been able to block YT ads. And I’m proud of anyone and everyone I’ve ever got to switch from using shitty smart TV interfaces to cheap computers. I’m responsible for probably half the sales of the Logitech K400/plus hahaha.

I wish hahaha. Like the other user said, no blocking any ads served by the same servers as the stuff you’re watching. Never worked for YT, never worked for Twitch.
That’s why I use computers on every screen in my house, and a Pi-Hole for other ads!

Can confirm, I’m going on nearly a decade and Pi-hole has NEVER been able to stop YT ads because they’re served by the platform’s servers rather than outside servers.

That’s a fuckin steal for the tech, if it wasn’t a smart tv.
Maybe I’m showing my age but I remember 3k+ for a 60+” DLP TV with shit viewing angles and a bulb that needed replacing eventually.

Bahahaha I grew up with an emachine once we upgraded from our 386, then 486…
The emachine was the worst computer I’ve ever had. I preferred our Compaq Portable. I didn’t know it at the time but emachines were just Gateway’s bottom-tier garbputers. Trying to play anything on it was a nightmare. Even MIDI files sounded like shit compared to my friend’s 1GHz HP. The Rage II integrated graphics played Diablo II at 10FPS.
Horrible nightmare machine full of poop and sadness.
I wish they kept it. I’d love to have it on display at my house now.

The games that WORK run incredibly on my M4 MacBook Air… the 15-20% of my Steam collection. D: ah well, that’s not what it’s for anyway.

That’s fair haha. I bought a Mac in the late 2000’s specifically to play games! At the time, I wanted a thin laptop with a good screen, good battery life, super light, and a high end video card and processor. I was constantly playing games at friends’ houses and going to LAN parties, and by no means did I want a desktop to lug around with my giant CRT monitor and keyboard and all that shit.
All of the PC laptops at the time were HUUUUGE! I sold computers at the time, and I hated every design of every windows computer. I looked at the 15” MacBook Pro, with its … okay amount of RAM, excellent dedicated video card, better processor than any PC laptop, and holy shit over two thousand US dollars price tag and… just went for it. Installed windows of course, and it played everything incredibly and was everything I wanted. A couple years later, it had an unfortunate accident and I had to get it written off under warranty, and paid a couple hundred dollars for a 2011 model. Did the same thing, installed Windows, and it played… everything amazingly. I love it. I still have it! I still use it! It has 16GB RAM and a SSD where the optical drive used to live now, but shit… still does standard tasks and video and whatnot totally fine!
Now, got a crazy deal on a MacBook Air last year. It COULD play games, but not much runs on MacOS. That’s okay though, it’s not what I got it for (NOTHING handles a photo library my size better than iPhoto, nothing even comes close.) love the thing, but Mac hardware playing games is over with the M series as far as I can tell.

I have every OS and tons of computers. I used my m4 MacBook Air when I went to the hospital because the battery life is eternal and the speakers are uncomfortably good for something so small. I did play some games on it, and they ran incredibly for such a crazy small machine.
Alas… the library that worked… SO SMALL! So many games are Windows/Linux only. I’d love to see that change, but luckily for me, that’s the only time I ever cared to try games on my MacBook.

I found a ring of places federated with each other, but not federated with Lemmy as a whole. I wanna say some of those as a joke answer but I think it’d be a bit grim of a joke for Lemmy as a whole—the stuff those communities discuss is stuff that you and I do NOT want to see.
Ahhh that’s okay, thank you for the info!
Lawl I pay for the yearly thing and I’ve never used any paid features, I just wanted to support them. I’m okay with the price increase, but it definitely would have been nice to have an announcement maybe in December or spending the they’re planning that. I wonder if I’m grandfathered into the same price I’ve been paying? Ehhh too lazy to find out. I’ll pay 20, but yah some transparency or forewarning would have been nice for a lot of peeps.
I loved arguing and being just overall mean and negative and a cunt to people on Reddit who posted really absolute complete garbage sludge, like parroting the same tired Le Epic phrases that were already posted 20 times in the comment section before they squeezed the rubbish bin juice out of their half-a-brain cell enough to comment “pLaY StUpiD GamEs, Win…” and when they’d get mad at me for being mean I’d always have a great time.
I can’t really do that here. It’s nice. I don’t really see completely horrible dumb garbage here very often. It’s very refreshing. So I don’t really feel the need to be a cunt anymore. As much.
Also sorry for the insane run-on sentence there, but it fits how I wanted to express it from my brain hole.
I’ve never been much into pron, and I haven’t been at ALL into it for like, decades now. I will never NOT stop to appreciate any well-drawn furry art, no matter what the subject is, no matter level of SFW/NSFW-ness, no matter how fucked up the subject matter is. I love cute/well-drawn furry stuff so much.
