  • Now, some tech job candidates have begun asking about what AI compute budget they will have access to if they decide to join. “I am increasingly asked during candidate interviews how much dedicated inference compute they will have to build with Codex,” Thibault Sottiaux, engineering lead at OpenAI’s Codex, the startup’s AI coding service, wrote on X recently.

Big fucking bullshit. No one ever ask for “AI compute budget”, people wants money. Not your coffee, not your foosball game, money.

Guess what you can buy with money? Yeah, that compute time, if desired.

What a fucking load of bullshit.

  • After reading this, in particular the “The Facts” section, my understanding is: he got pulled into making a political statement about gender and he didn’t want to get involved with that.

Yet again, that “crowd” didn’t like Ladybird’s refusal to play, therefore that “crowd” does what they’re known best doing: cry high and loud on the internet playing the victim.

In a sense, that “crowd” shoved their political agenda down his throat, and that’s the only thing I personally find reprehensible here.

  • During that time, you can easily install Ollama on an old computer.

With a client like Oatmeal, you can save your session/ reload/delete as you wish; so your model remembers what you want.

I am running llama3.1:8b, it’s good enough for the day-to-day operations.

    • Need for a spyware: 0
    • Need to take screenshots of my desktop: 0
    • Need to buy another computer for the hype chipset: 0
    • Need of Microsoft bullshit: 0

My old computer is apparently “not good enough” for windows 11, but it’s surely good enough for my personal AI running on Linux though!
