IMO measurements are actually one of the few areas in life where we are living in a decent timeline because US Customary is basically an affine rescaling of SI Units (affine but not linear because (at least) of x [K] = (x [°F] − 459.67) × 5/9) with exact conversion factors if you’re careful. And then my personal preference for the units I was socialized under become irrelevant for practical work.
But I don’t think it’s normal for weather to be -10 degrees F with snow, and then 3 days later 75 degrees F! That seems insane to me!
The climate is going crazy, but strictly speaking, you can’t logically conclude that from solely your local weather fluctuations. I.e., climate change is a global property of our planet, which requires global statistics…which we have, but your folks either refuse to look or refuse to listen to experts who have looked.
And extreme weather events are more likely, but that doesn’t mean they never occurred before or never would occur without climate change.
I’m not saying this to downplay the severity of the climate crisis or even to say that you literally can never use local weather events to reason about climate change, but IMO is it both politically and mathematically important to stress the global nature of climate change whenever it is brought up.

One of my special interests is music production, specifically extreme metal. ~99% of the time, metal guitars are recorded in the studio with either a speaker cabinet loaded with a Celestion Vintage 30 guitar speaker¹, or an impulse response recorded by someone else who owns a cabinet loaded with Vintage 30s. And back when I picked this username on R*ddit, the fad was “PM_ME_{fetish}”, for example “PM_ME_FEET_PICS”. So I decided to subvert expectations by picking something not sexual 😆.
¹ Sometimes, speaker cabinets have different speaker brands within one cabinet to blend the sounds together. Because we typically place microphones right in front of the speaker, when cabinets have multiple different speakers, we usually mic one of each distinct speaker if we have the mics to do it. If I only had one mic, I’d mic up the Vintage 30, probably right up against the speaker cone (or mesh if the cabinet has one) adjusted to taste according to where I need it to sit in the mix 🤘😈🤘
