I enjoyed it so it was a good use of my screen space which zeroes out your criticism :)

Maybe but you give them an inch and in a few years the ads will be targeted
I mean I agree but you can’t say riding on something like this “bike route” in Ottawa, Canada isn’t a death wish
(Link)
Like, it’s because of cars that its dangerous. I recognise that a lot of countries have much better infrastructure that makes it much safer but our infrastructure is shit. I say that as someone who does bike as a means of transport often
I don’t think it’s anti-bike at all. Biking is dangerous in a large number of countries but largely due to cars and inadequate infrastructure protecting bicyclists

I switched away from NameCheap to a Canadian domain registrar after swearing off American software where possible. They’ve been great. It’s a smaller company so I’ve gotten really quick responses on tickets I’ve put in
That actually makes it more confusing. Unless you’re on a rolling release distro , each major version will have a different repository of software - newer Linux Distro releases having newer programs.
An example that’s more visible from the standard user POV would be an Ubuntu user seeing GNOME being updated up a major feature release between Ubuntu versions. Without updating to the new version of Ubuntu, they’d only see maintenance patches and minor feature additions rather than anything gamechanging

What are you gaining from being so insufferable lol

In terms of tech, it’s because what data you think they have on you is only a tiny fraction of what they actually have. I’m a backend developer who’s worked on numerous web services and you’d be blown away by the amount of data companies collect. Think: full scanable replays of your browser session when visiting websites. At my previous job I could see literally every bit of identifiable data available for each user and could replay their browsing as an interactive video.
It’s a massive invasion of privacy

Most recently, xAI has come under fire after Grok began generating nonconsensual sexual images of real people in response to X user prompts.
That’s an understatement…

I’m pretty sure it asks you how often you want to see the AI overview doesn’t it? Can’t you just click never?
IIRC that’s just one of the backends they use for their results

I legit switched back to Android because of the UI changes (when they leaked). I’d be okay with bringing back a late 2000s Aero vibe but make it consistent at least

For the time being yeah. I still use Firefox on mobile myself but I do hope they release a mobile version at some point

I really like the Zen browser. It’s Firefox-based, open source and privacy focused with AI removed but it’s also really pretty and is built around vertical tabs

Aw, I’d complain. A lot of open source tools don’t pay for a cert so they get the GK warning

You can disable the FN shortcuts so that they’re just regular F# keys. The print screen thing is fair though admittedly in so used to them that I’ve set them as shortcuts on my main Plasma desktop lol

I miss FutureShop. Fuck Best Buy for killing them

I should have bought more DDR5 when I first built mine. I figured I’d be able to add more later so I just focused on a good CPU…
Wait, what’s wrong with websockets?
