  • My spouse was still sleeping earlier so I tried to sneak into the room to grab my phone I left on the nightstand. When I was walking out I stepped on a stuffed mouse on a string (usually hangs from a doorframe so the cat can play with it but he pulled it down apparently). When I stepped on it I thought it was a real animal and soon as my foot felt the pressure of pushing down on such an object I jerked it up roughly to my waist, kicked the door I was trying to walk through and it slammed shut.

One of those moments where you want to apologize, but really then you are just causing more noise to wake them up further.

    Tldr; I’m an idiot

  • By principle I do many a thing that are against my “best interest” when it comes to relations and things that would help promote me financially. That doesn’t mean I haven’t also fucked myself over financially financially in other ways. But Ive walked from a job with nothing in savings and no safety net out of principles that the company probably will never know about nor care who I was at the end of the day.

My income ended up halved and my savings are still empty, but I sleep better at night, and now when I drink it’s for fun and not the dread of who’s lives would be ended/impacted by the fruits of my and others labor.

  • We have AI built into some tools I believe, but I have never been told I had to use them. The truth is they don’t work all the time for every situation and the client is more worried about user data accidentally getting scooped up and spending time warning us to never enter any users information anywere, even so much as notating a user saying they have a limitation that explains why we performed a task in a non standard fashion is a complete not happening.

So if someone said, “I am vision impaired,” someone reading our notes would probably be wondering… Why the f didn’t they just do a,b,c it would have been much easier. But they are worried if those notes get integrated into something the AI gobbles up in the future, they don’t want to get sued for that user information to somehow be linked to them. As that could be considered medical data I guess.

The funny part is, if an AI does use that data for learning now, it may start trying to instruct or perform tasks based off of highly inefficient solutions designed to assist a specific disability

  • I’ve got a pair of 36 and 46 that both fit. Usually shoes are fairly normalized, like an 11 usually fits across the board for me, but I got a pair of dress shoes one time and needed an 8. I put on an 11 and they were like clown shoes.

Dress pants for me are a shot in the dark. I’ll find 40" waists that I cant put my hand in my pocket and then I’ll find a 36 that both hands fit in fine and fit well. And I never get anything listed as skinny, I just always assume my phone would just bend around my leg at that point. The brand name doesn’t even matter, same brand will have different fits even in the same pant “style.”

Tshirts are a shit show because I’m not skinny anymore. If it is going to not show my stomach when I raise my arms I’d need like a 3XL, but if I get a 3XL it is extremely loose everywhere because a large or XL is a more proper fit width wise.

  • I don’t even know what regulations they are skirting. You can’t just sign up to become a driver without submitting information just like any other job. Background checks are required, licenses and what not. People are also supposed to leave feedback if they had a bad experience so I could only imagine that the complaints are surrounding the idea that Uber isn’t following up on the feedback enough. That said if 500 people ride with that driver and rate them well, and 1 person says they were a perv, and Uber looks at it and finds that person has called several male drivers pervs while they get good ratings from everyone else, there could be a problem that those people have a type, or Uber could be thinking the issue is the rider at that point

  • Well the way I view it is it’s all useless. If a 10 year old goes to buy a phone, they can’t do so without getting money from an adult who therefore approved of it. If a 15 year old buys a cell phone they can’t… Because they need an adult to have a credit card/bank that allows monthly payments. Only offered to an adult. If you are a minor you can only get one with an adults co-sign. Thus the idea that a child has access to the Internet without an adults consent is just untrue 99.9 percent of the time. schools monitor the traffic . So every situation comes down to negligence on the parent. Who will sign their account in, or their credit card on the kids phone… bypassing all reason for the laws
