Is there only one winner in this system?

That’s first past the post.
And that leads to strategic voting, and winner takes all.
Which concentrates way too much power

Ranked choice should solve this.
If you vote for 5 left wing parties, with the last one being one you know isn’t going to get eliminated, then your vote still goes to the left

Ok fair, I didn’t read all the details, and too lazy to go through all those links to understand them and pick my favourite.
Which ever one doesn’t lead to stratigic voting and concentration of power.

Ranked choice voting.
Along with eliminating anyone with less than ~2%

Sounds great, I didn’t know about that

Sounds like a decentralized encrypted messaging platform is needed.
And when you need the highest trust, you just need to make sure you and the people you are talking to are all on trusted servers.
so governments would use their own gov.eu server or something, and only communicate sensitive info to others on that network so the info never leaves that server

Anyone wana give the tl:dr?
Why?

Gatekeeping, nice.

It’s not a problem on PieFed, it’s mostly been delt with

Reddit already requires it in the UK, afik.
But it’s mostly speculation form my side.

That is probably true, I do wish for a future where people can migrate to say https://www.eurosky.tech/ and alternatives, while benefiting from having so many users already

I’d also like this, but I feel you’ll get pushback against this on the Fediverse
Perhaps it’s a feature instance’s can set as default or not themselves

No, that’s why I said it’s technically decentralized.
They have 40 million users though, they focused on UX first, and will now hopefully not be dicks and actually become decentralized

I think we should just hide all of that complexity and just set defaults for everything that the user can decide to change if they want. You don’t have to understand how the Fediverse works to be able to use it. Most people don’t understand how email works, they just use it.
BlueSky has 40+ million users, and it’s also technically decentralized like the Fediverse.
aka. you can use the eurosky.social or bluesky.social server etc.

I hate being left wing sometimes https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vHfbUIQeW_A

You can try without having step 1 in place, but you might get picked up by reddit’s filters.
If you have a brand new account you often can’t post in most subs or will get flagged for Advertising etc.

Only visible if someone makes a comment in a sub that you mod.

Text posts simply don’t get the same message across though, which is why they aren’t as effective.
You can communicate a LOT more info in a short time-span with a image.
Do you NEVER watch movies because books exist?
As a South African this confused the shit out of me at first.
I thought it was the hateful political party the Economic Freedom Fighters, who chant things like “Kill the Boer” at their rallies
