  • LLM’s have now had a pretty decently long period of proving their worth. Which turned out to be very limited in scope and depth, at least compared to the promises given beforehand.

For example, it was predicted that it would be able to write and inject code into itself, generate data to train on for itself, not need any/minimal human intervention to do so. This clearly is impossible.

As a tool for people to use natural language to interact with software, it’s proving to be quite effective.

As a tool for accurate dissemination of factual information it isn’t reliable at all. And can’t be made reliable, LLM’S are at least incapable of reliability at a fundamental level. As language in itself is a subjective human invention we describe the objective reality with, the objective reality is only known through perception. A LLM doesn’t in fact perceive anything, it’s not alive. So fundamentally LLMs can’t know if they are actually being factual, this requires something more than language.

People who peddle AI bs, don’t know, or wish to remain ignorant about, the fundamental limitations of language.

The key concept that you’re forgetting is that this is only the knowledge we have and it’s not the knowledge we don’t have. That is to say that the complexities of human physiology are so large and intertwined that we don’t know a lot about it.

Will telomere manipulation and treatment of cancer have an effect on longevity, yes.

But we are very much unable to accurately predict who gets cancer, when and where. Cancer is also a name for a massively large collection of problems in human tissues, that are all completely different in pretty much everything. There will never be A cure or THE cure for cancer because it isn’t a single thing.

And then there is the fact that most people know what aides in longevity: excersize, a mostly plant based diet, no smoking, no drinking. Thousands of studies have been done on this. People however aren’t doing it. People seem to be perfectly fine with their mortality.

What all these fuckers want is to smoke, drink, catch every disease known to mankind, eat McDonalds every hour of every day and then walk into a longevity pod that fixes all their problems without pain, without recovery, without effort and preferably within a minute or two while on their phone.

  • You can’t say that because less people use drugs that peoples lives have been saved. That’s political logic, logic you employ to maintain a political stance. It has nothing to do with reality.

You can only justify a death penalty when you see drug addicts as lost lives. And that’s just plainly wrong.

Portugal has completely decriminalized all drugs and have clearly shown that this didn’t lead to a rise in drug use, it never lead to a rise in criminality either.

Singapore law is unnecessarily cruel and barbaric.
