  • (ive been told my writing style is a bit abrasive, but i got a touch of the tism’, and that can effect the “cadence” of how i write. so take that into perspective when reading this inside your head. im not hostile.)

“Who said this is a forum for the working class?”

its implied, considering almost 99% of the worlds population needs to work to make a living and to support their loved ones who cant. and the vast majority of the people who post here arent billionaire oligarchs, or petty bourgeoisie. its statistically unlikely. therefor, fair to say.

“Why do you want people with extreme views (left or right) in your community?”

radicals are at the forefront of change in every conflict. for better, or for worse.

today (in the US) to be opposed to fascism, is to be considered a “far left terrorist” or ANTIFA. another boogeyman made by the fascists to scare people away from “socialism” or the “wokes” or some other nonsense.

the new modern definition of “far left extremism” is a dog whistle used by fascists trying to play the “both sides bad” or “innocent centrist” take that ultimately leads left leaning people and fence sitters further down the road of fascism, for those who take it at face value. overuse of the word “tankie” as well, which has been used as a blanket term for socialists/communists a lot more in recent days. but most people dont understand its roots, or the roots of socialism/communism, and how they have changed since their inception.

unfortunately, the reason so many “far left” voices appear here, is because platforms like reddit started banning people because they called out fascism, and began communicating on how they should stop it. or simply joking about it. i personally am one of those people, i said elon musk did a nazi salute, and was likely a nazi to some degree. and i was perma banned within minutes. for “violent” content. (it wasnt in the slightest) so here i am. and honestly its quite nice, people are more level headed, kind, and willing to discuss things thoughtfully. without the “gotchyas” and hostile armchair intellectualism that is so rampant on platforms like reddit.

this is a platform of the people, each instance essentially ran/hosted by volunteers. working class people, like you or me. thats the basis of the fediverse. anyone can spin up an instance, some bigger/better than others, and choose to link with all/certain instances. some instances can be honey pots, filled with bots, AI slop. or real human beings, making real connections. who knows. its crazy out here. still small, quiet. but growing, and getting louder.

the best thing about the fediverse, is that if you dont like an instance. you can leave it.

but if you dont leave quietly, its always a little bit sus as to your real motivations.

OP seems to be confusing people with a distaste for fascism/general knowledge of communism/socialism, and the history that birthed them, for actual “tankies”

a common mistake made by the misinformed, and a common tactic used by the misaligned.

but id rather not make those assumptions, and assume its coming from a purely anecdotal view/experience of the world that i havent seen reflected in my own use of lemmy.

regardless, at the end of the day, its not left vs right, its up vs down. and i think thats the bigger zeitgeist here on lemmy

sorry for the wall of text. i hope this helps provides a bit more context.

  • watched it again recently. loved it. i get the hate though fo sho.

its out there for sure. but then again this was made before we knew that a pedophile shadow elite was manipulating online spaces into far right extremist shitholes so they can further an agenda of global control and systematically dismantling democracy whenever they could.

also apparantly aliens suddenly exist now right before the US invades iran

fuckin moon bears, man. crazy shit.

  • they will adapt, they will have no choice. but the interim period between adaptation and collapse of the US dollar will see a massive reduction in personal freedoms and the way of life as we know it.

i suggest you look into the global reserve currency, and which countries/economies rely on it. and what happens during hyper inflation.

its not pretty. a lot of people will die as a result. supply chain collapse, civil war, loss of public services, healthcare, etc.

even a preemptive adapation will come with significant negative day to day effects.

like gold turning into lead in your pocket. but more accurately, like the 1’s and 0’s in your account suddenly having a lot more 0’s before the 1’s.

  • interesting take, i appreciate the write up. and ill look into reading that, it sounds insightful.

however, the inevitable collapse of the current world order has already been called by the middle powers, particularily by mark carney the current canadian prime minister of canada at davos recently. he suggests an economic work around through trade agreements that would seek to lessen american dependance, to mitigate damage and create a “new world order” in the face of the inevitable collapse of the US economy.

no empire is permanent, they always fail, its a matter of time. and right now all the economic dominos have lined up to showcase this absolute truth. regardless of the failure of nation, or empire, there will always be those who will find a way to maintian their power and influence post collapse.

when i say collapse. i mean a complete shift in our current state as a society and civilisation.

Marx predicted this roughly 200 years ago, lenin later on predicted the outcome further in his critique of monopoly in empire the highest stage of capitalism, and we see it now that these words ring true.

the consolidation of wealth leads to economic turmoil for the working class, unrest, revolution, etc. eventually the wealth divide becomes so vast that society becomes so unaffordable that we as humans have no choice but to revolt.

this is common sense, especially from the POV of those who caused it. and logic dictates that regardless of their lack of empathy, that those who caused it, and pushed it to its extremes understand the risks that come with their greed. it also dictates that they will do whatever it takes to preserve themselves, even if it means using immoral means of mass genocide, and general controls of the population.

AI is not profitable, through the lense of economics it is a dead end technology in terms of its use for long term profitability, and when i say long term i mean decades, and decades, considering the fallout that it brings to would be consumers. but in the view of someone who doesnt value it for its exchange value for consumers, but as a tool of control, and surveillance of a disturbed population. thats where they find its value. this is why elites and governments the world over that represent them, are implicating it in the various ways they are. policing, and military usage being prime examples.

they want us to fund and build the infrastructure through our labours, building our future prison, judge, jury, executioner, all in one. while saying its for our safety and advancement.

the truth is, they know the gravy train of neoliberalism, capitalism, and consumerism. is coming to a close.

what remains is damage control, and mitigation of risk.

like you stated human empathy creates another unavoidable risk, and so it is an issue that must be tackled by the ruling class. like they always have.

the creation of the internet, an originally military technology, implemented as public infrastructure served as the initial catalyst and mainline for the future tools they would use to manipulate the global population. now we see those results manifest. rising fascism, a term coined by a man who said it might be more aptly named “corporatism” a system of governance where the wealthy corporatists control the government, and on their behalf, they control the population.

now we have the creation of AI which automates that process further. and they are clawing for it all over the world, disregarding public outcry, and creating projects that funnel trillions of tax payer dollars to build the new systems of control.

if the internet was the nervousystem, AI is the brain that dictates the flow of signals to its extremeties. flawed as it is from the point of view of a consumer and average human. specifically in terms of its daily use cases and overall consumption. not only of money, but water, and energy.

we already see it causing mass psychosis and the relative ease it has in manipulating information and general ideology amongst the masses.

placation, bread and circus, and direct control of military assets that have no ability to feel anything. drones, missiles, surveillance cameras, smart phones, autonomous machines of every kind. virtually every military or police force of merit is implementing these technologies.

it is not a cohesive movement by the elites, but a common sense awakening of multiple tribes of elites, that know this is the new way to maintain their stations.

Gaza is an example of modern genocide, a showcase of these technologies not just on the battlefield, but their outward ability to control emotions and the narrative surrounding it as a whole across all connective technologies. it also shows the world powers that it is possible to get away with genocide if the message is spun or stifled properly, depending on the user profile of the outward observer. it is considered a “debatable topic” in some circles still.

what we are witnessing is the soft crashing of the old world ideals. the rules no longer apply, and its debtable if they ever did to begin with. depending on your economic position in the hierarchy. the epstein files also showcased this differential treatment and the lengths the elite are willing to go to control us, and eachother.

the collapse will be long and sustained, but inevitable. the current economic form is not built to withstand this level of technological shift while sustaining a full and growing population. and neither is the environement.

not every elite agrees on how the new world should look, but they all agree that they have the right to witness it moreso than the people the parasitize.

the means of which they will choose to chase their future maintenance are always up for debate. but the overall consensus is that technology evolves to produce more with less. its just that now the produce is no longer commodity based. it produces, control, surveillance, and the maintenance of power and influence. more control, minus the human element. or at least a mass reduction in the variatibility of the human element.

even if they intended to not act towards a mass reduction in the global population, it is now a mathematical certainty that they believe is already beyond their control.

they are simply insuring their survival, and lifestyle, in the face of an inevitable situation, which just so happens to present a profitable biproduct. the reduction of competition. in all its forms.

in the meantime they will manufacture consent.

  • the elites of the world know that eventually society as we know it will collapse. so right now they are entering the smash and grab stage of that collapse to gather as many resources, assets, power etc as possible so that they can have not only a better chance of survival, but also a better chance of reforming the new world in their image.

in fact i think they are trying to quicken the pace, or at least some “tribes” are.

the united states will invade iran and several other nations, it will fall due to civil war and devalue the US dollar which will collapse the current economic model, and take other nations economies with it. the elite that orchestrated this will cash in their saved assets into a new liquid currency and use it to buy up everything on fire sale. as is tradition. then they will bring the world into a temporary techno feudalist state, or at least form several nations into them.

they are keeping records of everyone, everything, every tap of your key board, every shred of data is saved for future use. even being near a router is enough for them to take at least some biometric data about you now.

eventually this will be uses to sort humanity into different in and out groups, and several culling waves will take place to reduce the working classes man power and ability to resist future automated forces.

BCI interfaces will be used to control the remaining useful population, and integrate a kill switch into every human alive. using nano technology they might even be able to make it airborn.

sounds sci fi until you look into what tech exists already today let alone what can exist a few years from now with more advanced “AI” systems doing the heavy lifting and filling in the gaps. combined with quantum computing, things will get extremely weird when those two technologies merge, and they will merge eventually.

the tools they use today to manipulate the masses will be childrens toys in the face of what is to come. and consent will not be a part of the equation when it comes to discerning effectiveness.

this will take decades to play out. but at the end of it we will have a much smaller, very tightly controlled population, and the worst psychopathic nut jobs at the head of it all. if we dont wipe ourselves out before then entirely.

needless to say, enjoy your days while they are as simple as they are now.

  • we are products of our environement, to a degree. but to achieve that level of wealth and power, you have to be missing something that makes you a human being. and that thing is empathy.

some people become numb and lose it on the way to their “success”, others are simply born without it and have no qualms.

but the truth of the matter is, that if they didnt have that money and power. their ability to organize the way that they did, to manipulate the population, to change our futures, would not have been possible. at least at this scale.

therefore. for the good of humanity to win. we must completely remove the option of anyone attaining that level of wealth and power, ever again.

basically. we have to adopt a form of global socialism, and then eventually an environmentally focused form of communism. equality, in balance with nature.

its either that, or we continue to be controlled by pedophile capitalists and techno feudal lords, focusing on the economy and how many things they can make us subscribe to or rent, while killing us off en mass, here and there. until we all die from some horrible resource war, or mass extinction from climate collapse and its related biproducts.

    adapt or die.

  • kind of missing the forest for the trees here. the issue is in order to make that change and hold these platforms accountable, through changes to section 230, you would then open the door to all platforms being held accountable, and create a new loop hole for more government control of all platforms. this would cause intense censorship and algorithmic control of content, and the means in which it is shared, spread, or created.

the internet is inherently addictive, always has been, always will be. its the greatest technology mankind has ever developed, it connects us all to each other, and the collective library of human knowledge. there is no world where a human brain, adult, or child, does not engage with that level of connectivity without some level of addiction.

ive been watching this for a while now, and the support, timing, and language around it is being engaged by both sides of the political spectrum. which in this particular time period, is extremelly worrisome.

attacking “addictive features” (which i am not saying there isnt room for improvement for) is a foot in the door for further amendments. most people just “think of the chillren” when they see this, and its understandable, we love our kids, so we should as parents limit screen time, or not make it an option at all, kids cant buy their own phines, computers, or pay for wifi, and it takes a few minutes to put parental controls on all your kids devices. besides that, most people are not educated in the subject of internet policy over the last 30 years, or why section 230 is so important. it is quite literally the reason you and i can have this exchange without the government filtering what can and cannot be exchanged.

the fact of the matter is right in the paragraph you quoted

This argument, if successful, could sidestep the companies’ First Amendment shield and Section 230

its not just about the companies, its about section 230, and as a biproduct digital ID requirements by large platforms. which is something needed for a larger agenda that goes beyond the united states government, by the ruling elites of the world. but thats a rabbit hole ill allow you to fall in yourself. the united states just so happens to be the center of digital infrastructure and platforms shared by every country in the planet.

discord, as an example, will soon require users to upload a copy of their ID or a facial scan to use their platform.

    “to protect the children”

then every major platform will. for “liability reasons” and to “protect the children”

then the internet as a whole will require it.

    “to protect the children”

then you wont be able to do a god damn thing without big brother logging and arresting people left and right for whatever digital crimes the powers that be decide are crimes that week. basically, thought crime.

and platforms from the fediverse, and all over the internet will have to bend the knee, and police content to extremes we havent yet seen. nobody will be anonymous anymore. and resistance goes back to the stone age of hand written letters and secret handshakes under the bridge.

heres a good write up about section 230. the above mentioned article already discusses some of the pushes for digital ID already. in various forms. some more invasive than others.

    https://www.internetsociety.org/blog/2026/02/30-years-of-section-230-why-we-still-need-it-for-a-safer-internet/

heres a decent video about the history of the internet, section 230, and implications of this lawsuit and the other actions around section 230. its a bit long, but worth it. if you want a laymans understanding.

    https://youtu.be/_eqt8vrtP-U

and below, here is a summary of section 230 from wikipedia.

Summary In the United States, Section 230 is a section of the Communications Act of 1934 that was enacted as part of the Communications Decency Act of 1996, which is Title V of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and generally provides immunity for online computer services with respect to third-party content generated by their users. At its core, Section 230©(1) provides immunity from liability for providers and users of an “interactive computer service” who publish information provided by third-party users:

No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.

Section 230©(2) further provides “Good Samaritan” protection from civil liability for operators of interactive computer services in the voluntary good faith removal or moderation of third-party material the operator “considers to be obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable, whether or not such material is constitutionally protected.”

Section 230 was developed in response to a pair of lawsuits against online discussion platforms in the early 1990s that resulted in different interpretations of whether the service providers should be treated as publishers, Stratton Oakmont, Inc. v. Prodigy Services Co., or alternatively, as distributors of content created by their users, Cubby, Inc. v. CompuServe Inc. The section’s authors, Representatives Christopher Cox and Ron Wyden, believed interactive computer services should be treated as distributors, not liable for the content they distributed, as a means to protect the growing Internet at the time.

Section 230 was enacted as section 509 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA) of 1996 (a common name for Title V of the Telecommunications Act of 1996). After passage of the Telecommunications Act, the CDA was challenged in courts and was ruled by the Supreme Court in Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union (1997) to be unconstitutional, though Section 230 was determined to be severable from the rest of the legislation and remained in place. Since then, several legal challenges have validated the constitutionality of Section 230.

Section 230 protections are not limitless and require providers to remove material that violates federal criminal law, intellectual property law, or human trafficking law. In 2018, Section 230 was amended by the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA-SESTA) to require the removal of material violating federal and state sex trafficking laws. In the following years, protections from Section 230 have come under more scrutiny on issues related to hate speech and ideological biases in relation to the power that technology companies can hold on political discussions and became a major issue during the 2020 United States presidential election, especially with regard to alleged censorship of more conservative viewpoints on social media.

Passed when Internet use was just starting to expand in both breadth of services and range of consumers in the United States, Section 230 has frequently been referred to as a key law, which allowed the Internet to develop.

    there.

    i did my part.

    now i must rest.

  • removing or changing section 230 would also allow lemmy instances to be sued or taken down as well, for the content posted by users. it would increase government surveillance and basically allow the american government to dictate content across the entire internet. no more freedom of speech, whistleblowers, organization of protests, etc.

this all sounds well and good “for the sake of the chillren” but its a trojan horse for government censorship.

the only people who would be able to afford the bill for what happens after this would be american social media companies. anything “independant” or emerging like the fediverse would get bot swarmed with “illegal content” and then immediately sued into oblivion and outright removed.

this ensures complete loyalty of the digital space to the whims of the american government.

it would also allow them to remove things like wikipedia, the way back machine, the internet archive, and sites holding or spreading things around like the epstein files or at least sites holding peoples opinions of them.

  • worlds first trillionaire, and its about the worlds richest man and his idealist son who thinks he should give it all away. they argue, bicker, fight, the father is a recluse. and the son has no friends since he isnt allowed to go school, hes tutored at home by the worlds best and brightest, which just so happen to be his fathers “friends” some more honest, and the others, yes men, one of which is a music teacher, a woman, who just so happens to look strikingly similar to the boys grandmother when she was young, she fills his head with questions, rather than answers, all seemingly related to maintaining empathy, humanity, morals, etc. in between the various music theory topics that she draws her comparisons, always speaking in subtext and analogies. all the while the father spends his time watching the ticker get closer, and closer to one trillion dollars. day in, and day out, he watches.

sometimes his son comes to him and asks him weird philosophical questions, questions that arise from lessons with his teachers, they have conversations with which the father doesnt seem to care, or contributes a materialistic view point of the world, dehumanizes people, and the son finds that his father no longer seems to be the man he thought he was. and begins to question his own place in the world.

on the night that the ticker is about to reach one trillion dollars, his son comes to visit him, and they have a long conversation, which gets a bit aggressive and emotional and ends when his son asks him one final question.

“would you give it all away if it meant being actually happy for once in your miserable, lonesome, life!?”

he refuses to answer, sips his brandy, and returns to watching the ticker. at this point beyond his offices grand windows, the hills are ablaze with a forest fire in the distance, smoke permeates the air outside, but this fortress of a mansion is impervious to the threats of nature. “its the safest place on earth” he says to himself “no need to worry about a lil smoke and ash. at least now ill be able to see the ocean more clearly…maybe ill cover those hills in sculptures…no…monuments! haha. yea, maybe a fuckin sphynx with my face on it…or a pyramid or something. biggest one ever…s…solid…gold…with…my name…on it…” he passes out momentarily in his drunken state, and is awoken by a loud bang. its dark now, well past dusk.

he looks at the ticker, its so close. only a few million more and its official. his son is gone, he wants him to see this, to bare witness to a new wonder the world has never seen.

    his father, the first trillionaire!

he runs out the door of his office, only to find his son… dead… holding one if the various antique pistols from his collection. this one, however, was his personal favourite, thought to be the long lost pistol of “Billy the Kid”… he loved that western tale as a child, his name was Billy too, and he always saw himself as a lone gunslinger, ready to take on the world…

in his silent, repressed, yet immense grief, perhaps still in shock, he grabs his son, dragging his limp body into his office. to watch the ticker hit one trillion.

he props him up next to him, and opens his sons lifeless eyes to see. “you’re gonna miss it, sleepy head” he says laughing, tears welling in his normally stern eyes.

and finally it happens. the ticker hits one. trillion. dollars.

he smiles briefly, but his focus shifts to the fire in the hills, so much closer now, than before. in fact its maybe less than half a mile away. the smoke illuminated by the flames blocks out the night sky in a big orange and black plume.

he looks at his son one more time, and says to him.

“you still want to know?..yes… yes… id give it all away…just to be happy…for once… in my miserable… lonesome… life…”

he then takes the pistol of billy the kid, and puts it in his mouth. and promptly blows his brains out. blood spatters over the ticker, a moment passes in silence, and slowly, and then very quickly, the number starts dropping, crashing.

panning out towards the ceiling, away from the scene splayed out on the floor, shows that billy the trillionaire was alone the whole time.

he never had a son. in fact there hadnt been a visitor to the house in god knows how long.

que montage of him talking to himself with several personalities as he slowly goes insane with guilt over the past year as a recluse, via security cam footage on his desktop monitor next to the ticker. which plays continuously as it counts down.

the number eventually counts down to zero as the credits role to their end, and the fire keeps burning in the background until eventually the whole mansion succumbs to smoke and flame. as no amount of riches can ever make you impervious to the wills of nature.

smoke and fire fill the screen, and then it all goes black.

    FIN.
