I’m 55 and can honestly say I am more happy today then I have ever been in the past, not because of money or lots of friends but because I have learned a lot about myself in the last 10 years.

The problem will always be that companies and organizations will still use it as a primary communication platform, same issue with Twitter and face book, I have left all those platforms but still have sock puppet accounts so that I can access information that is difficult to find elsewhere. It’s kind of a never ending cycle.

We need a group of talented people who want to start making nonprofit social media platforms, but then maintain them in such a way that it attracts the companies, and organizations that currently use the for profit sites.

Lol I was going to say it sounds like all the AI shit that’s posted to the “today I fucked up” forums all it needed was a couple " I turned my phone off because it was blowing up" and oddly similar and unnecessarily given ages.

It’s probably because we tell kids about how dangerous scams are and all the problems that can occur, but we don’t teach ways to mitigate the issue when it does occur, the child was probably worried that all of their friends would fall for the scam and everyone would get in trouble, it honestly sounds like she was more concerned for her friends then she was about her discord account.

I’ve had adults act pretty much just like this, they are not well versed in how shit works but hear all the scary stories, so if things go a little wrong it is terrifying.

My wife has an irrational fear of slugs, like completely locked up and shaking if she sees one. We have spent 20 years together trying to figure out where her phobia came from.

She is in therapy now and was talking through it with her therapist and the therapist asked “what do you fear will happen” my wife told her all the images that flash in her mind when she thinks about slugs. Turns out the therapist is a big horror movie fan and knew of a movie where those exact things happened.

Well about the time that the movie came out on VHS my wife was being watched by an abusive relative who liked to rent scary movies and force her to watch them.

In the 80s we figured we would be abducted, if not that, it would be quicksand that got us, and if that failed,we would spontaneously combust, and if all else failed the hole in the ozone layer would destroy all life on earth. We were so concerned with all that happening that we all became kinda apathetic.

I grew up in the times of “look at me when I talk to you” and would get in trouble for “looking past the person”. So I developed an ability to make eye contact while unfocusing my eyes. Turns out if you make eye contact long enough people get uncomfortable and look away thereby letting you relax.

Wasn’t so much the brush I hated, just had become rather unenthused with being, but due to a family history didn’t want to overtly take the necessary steps, so I kinda just stopped caring and let intrusive thoughts have a go at it.

All in all it was an impressive fireball burnt the paint off of the top of my zippo and gave me 3rd degree burns on my arms.

A hot day with still air, I poured gas on a brush pile and opened the valve on an old propane tank, the brush pile was slightly up hill from a wall and I was between the wall and brush pile in what amounted to a large cloud of mixed gas vapors.

I lit my zippo, I realized I fucked up when I saw the horror on my wife’s face and at that moment I understood how much she needed me and I had better try to live through this.

I told my now wife everything as it came up, I never hid anything from her. Also I had already cut ties to almost all of my family.

When people tell me " your parents raised you right" I respond with " no the family dogs did most of the raising, my parents served as a bad example"
