It seems like that Snopes article is more about defending them than really addressing how staged the whole thing was. It’s rather disappointing. I’m normally decently supportive of Snopes. It’s certainly not a “woke pile of bullshit” like fascists love to claim (because it calls out their lies, typically). This article is rather disappointing. I feel like they should have spent a bit more time on just how bullshit the delivery was.
“Simmons was not a paid actor” according to Simmons, the White House, and Doordash: the three parties who could suffer most if she did turn out to be a paid actor. Snopes is ‘debunking’ theories using press releases from the guilty parties. The language used feels very biased against the allegations.
Are Doordash implying that they shipped this woman from her home state to the White House, asking her to take part in a publicity stunt with the president, and NO-ONE paid her for her time? She was clearly hand picked for her opinions on the NTOT thing.
If she is an actual door dash delivery person expressing her own views on Trumps no tip policy I would say that does not make her a paid actor. It is obvious there was coordination between the White House, DoorDash, and the deliverer. No one’s trying to hide that. DoorDash posted a video of her picking up the order Which they wouldn’t have done if this wasn’t gonna be a thing. The same goes for the shirt and car. We know door dash and Trump paid her, she was working. Personally, I think they should’ve paid her the For the whole trip to Washington. This was clearly a DoorDash advertising Campaign to encourage people to deliver for them and not have to pay taxes on their tips.
That’s what people should be upset about. Who cares if this lady is an actor or not, the fact that this is another instance of Donald Trump using his position as president to shill for his donors.
