Perhaps it’s more complex than a single reason but I believe all scenarios would most likely fall into the bucket of “things were that easy for them and they lack the critical thought to realize that it’s not that easy for everyone else”.
Boomers were buying houses and cars with only one person working, retiring at a decent age and living on mostly social security.
Generational wealth has ensured that their offspring would never have to struggle.
Some settled into a job that truly does pay for all their necessities.
etc., ad nauseum.
Basically, it’s a throwaway statement and I don’t think anyone should lose any sleep feeling like they need to further discuss it with them or defend themselves. They are clearly incapable of stepping outside of their knee-jerk assumptions to find out if they’re accurate or not.







I consume content here via all/new so my block list is used to make sure I don’t see users, communities and instances that keep me from enjoying my time here. It’s lengthy but does the job well.
