  • Perhaps it’s more complex than a single reason but I believe all scenarios would most likely fall into the bucket of “things were that easy for them and they lack the critical thought to realize that it’s not that easy for everyone else”.

Boomers were buying houses and cars with only one person working, retiring at a decent age and living on mostly social security.

Generational wealth has ensured that their offspring would never have to struggle.

Some settled into a job that truly does pay for all their necessities.

    etc., ad nauseum.

Basically, it’s a throwaway statement and I don’t think anyone should lose any sleep feeling like they need to further discuss it with them or defend themselves. They are clearly incapable of stepping outside of their knee-jerk assumptions to find out if they’re accurate or not.

  • Perhaps stow away the things you use to ensure isolation. In my case, I wear earbuds everywhere and hum the song so those around me know I can’t hear them, ensuring no attempt at interaction will be made. I never look directly at them so they can’t wave me down or try to get my attention.

Reading this, it seems I gave a masterclass in the exact opposite of what you’re asking but it might make something click for you.
