I didn’t realize it was common for 14 year olds to drink alcohol and take heroin where you’re from…

“I only let my child smoke crack 3 hours a day”

If you set parental controls on your own teen’s device, all you’re doing is isolating them from their peers and making them the kid with the weird parent who doesn’t let them post on tik tok.
Social media isn’t what it was when we were growing up. It’s designed to prey on them the same way slot machines create gambling addictions.
I’m no puritan but I do truly believe banning kids from social media and restricting teens at a legislative level would be a net benefit for society. Same as alcohol or drugs.
You’d have to prove all matter has consciousness for this right? Rocks, the sun, hydrogen atoms. We have evidence for the existence of reality before life but not the other way around.

Don’t drag cheap beer into this!

How do you feel about NIPT tests and ultrasounds?
-edit-
I’ll give a real answer in spite of your strawman.
Of course not. I believe every single person’s value is innate to their being, not derived from their ability, shape or productivity. Everyone deserves respect (until their actions say otherwise) and equality.
There is nothing about me that makes me better than someone who is neuro divergent or differently abled. However I’m also well aware of the severe physical and emotional challenges that things like severe autism or downs syndrome can cause for both the individual and their families, even when ignoring the additional challenges caused by discrimination from society at large.
Perhaps a really shitty question you should ask yourself is if you could go back in time and choose to be born with downs syndrome, would you?
If not then why? If not, isn’t it slightly hypocritical that you believe others, without their consent, should be?

Some people are way too attached to their disabilities.
Sure, but it’s significantly lower than legal drinking.
We as a society acknowledge the harm of underage drinking so prohibition is effective. Prohibition of adult drinking was puritan bullshit the majority didn’t agree with so it didn’t work.
I think you’d find a majority of parents agree social media is shit, but they’re unwilling to isolate their child. In this case prohibition would be effective.
