Actually a good comparison. The printing press still required people to compose the text to print. It only did away with the copying of existing texts. Ai still needs someone to compose the prompt for it to work and explaining to a computer what to do is programming. We’re only moving a level higher in the abstraction.

I think the discussion misses a key point. Uber avoids any responsibility for its drivers. A normal cab company would hire people for whom they know their real identity. If one of them crosses any lines, they get fired and and getting a new job isn’t as easy as making a new account.

If that was an option, I’d make an Uber account claiming to be a woman. No way I would miss out on that!

To be fair, the only time I used Twitter was in a data science course that required to capture some data from the “firehose” (unsorted and unfiltered realtime stream of tweets). Identifying yourself for official business on a government site is not the same as providing official ID to a random picture sharing site. Pretty much every service has had a leak which required heaps of people to change their trusted password. How would you fix this when they leaked your full official identity?

Duke Nukem Forever. As a teen Duke Nukem 3D was one of my most loved gaming experiences. Awesome game, came with easy to use level editor (Never got the original doom level editors to work back then). Played many many hours, made my own levels. Just plain loved the game.

Then the wait for Duke4Ever started and I waited, and waited and waited and (continue for 20 years so) and finaly got to play it.

It wasn’t bad really, it just wasn’t as fun as Duke3D was in my teens. It still had the same kind of humor, but never really hit any high notes. Weapons were limited, instead of having a weapon behind each number on the keyboard, now it was pick one up and drop one off.

Didn’t even try to see how the level editing was.

Maybe I’ll pick it up again if it’s a euro on Steam or GOG, as Duke3D still is loved childhood memory.

Played that for a short time, then lost track of it. Did love the intro.
